Grassington – Woodlands, river and limestone guided wildlife tour

Grassington - wildlife tours

Date: September 8, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Location: Grassington, Upper Wharfedale - Grassington, North Yorkshire BD23 5LB United Kingdom

Grassington, North Yorkshire.

The limestone geology provides dramatic views and significantly influences the flora and fauna of the area.
We will explore the limestone grasslands and hopefully find some butterflies. The birdlife will be in evidence both in the grasslands and in the spectacular upland ash woodlands. Winding its way through the dale bottom is the River Wharfe which provides us with a range of wildlife to discover and allows us to look more closely at some of the natural features of a dynamic river.

This walk gets you in to the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and should reveal a whole series of wildlife species in this internationally important limestone landscape.

We will stop frequently to observe the wildlife and explore how the area is managed with the aim of putting what we see in to context locally, regionally, nationally and even internationally.
