National Parks Week 27th July – 2nd August 2015
National Parks Week celebrates the 15 UK National Parks and Wildlife Discovery Tours are combining National Parks Week with Yorkshire Day on 1st August by offering a guided wildlife tour in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The walk from Grassington to Coniston/Kilnsey and back along the River Wharfe allows us the opportunity to discover some of the wildlife of this limestone landscape including flowers, butterflies and birds.
Early August is a lovely time of the year to explore the range of habitats including limestone grasslands, upland ash woodlands and the dynamic River Wharfe.
Along the way there will be the opportunity to get closer to the landscape, discover more about how it is currently managed, why we have the habitats and wildlife we do and how things may change over the coming years.
We will be stopping and letting the wildlife come to us and spending time looking at different elements of the habitats to discover and appreciate more of the wildlife associated with them. The aim is to have an enjoyable day out discovering more about our landscapes rather than covering lots of miles.
Limestone landscapes have their own special qualities and the Yorkshire Dales National Park is internationally important for these landscapes.
The Wildlife Discovery Tours Yorkshire Day celebration is an ideal way to explore the landscape and discover the wildlife of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in National Parks Week.View Tour Details
